Assignment:

The town of Leadville, CO was once a "Superfund" site, as a result of historic metal mining. The area had contaminated soils, waste rock and tailings(solid) from mining and ore processing, acidic, metal rich water draining old underground mine works, and several polluted ponds. Your task is to develop a cleanup plan for the entire site. What is your plan for managing contaminated water, including water that is still flowing out of the underground mine workings? The waters have low pH (2-3 SU) and high concentrations of dissolved metals (Fe, Pb, As, Al, Cu and others).
