Reflective Journals
Students will engage in fortnightly journal reflections on various elements and the importance of Lesson Planning. (Weeks 1-5, min. 250 words/reflection)
This assignment consists of two critical, reflective responses to three selected questions. You are provided with three questions, from which you are required to choose any two for the final Turnitin submission. The questions cover weeks 1-5, and reference should be made to session materials and readings in your responses.
• Each response should not be longer than 250 words
• Please provide the word count at the end of each of the responses
• This assignment is not an essay, so there is no need to write an introduction or conclusion to the assignment
• You should utilise each of the questions as headings of each of your two responses
Due to the reflective nature of this assignment, it is required that only a minimum of two (2) references be used in this task. This means, each response should contain at least one reference.
Journal Writing, Planning and Programming [PLAN]: Content for our curriculum- what to teach, planned experiences and learning
"Educators are responsive to all children's strengths, abilities and interests. They value and build on children's strengths, skills and knowledge to ensure their motivation and engagement in learning." (BELONGING, BEING & BECOMING, The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia, p. 14)
When making a curriculum decision on what to teach, what are some child focused considerations we need to follow? What can Early Childhood Educators align their curriculum decisions with and how do you make these decisions?
Planning and Programming [REFLECT/REVIEW]- Assessment and Evaluation-Reflective teaching "When educators reflect on their role in children's learning and assessment they reflect on their own views and understandings of early childhood theory, research and practice." (BELONGING, BEING & BECOMING, The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia, p. 17)
What is your perceived role as an Early Childhood Educator in relation to children's learning and assessment? How are you going to sufficiently challenge children while incorporating pedagogical practices that reflect knowledge of diverse perspectives and contribute to children's wellbeing and successful learning? What changes would you make to your lessons to reflect the intended learning outcome?
