Problem: An attempt to commit a crime is a crime in itself. Every person who attempts to commit any crime, but fails, or is prevented in completing the crime, is guilty of an attempt to commit the crime. The punishment for an attempt is usually half the sentence of the target crime. What is your opinion on a person only getting half the prison sentence for attempting to commit a crime? Do you think this is too lenient on the criminal and will not discourage them from attempting to commit a crime?
