Assignment:
What is your interpretation of the Bill of Rights?
For many of us who are American (U.S. Citizens) and for many of us who are working/studying in the country or working toward citizenship, we know and understand that we are an extremely diverse society. Our communities (particularly in large urban cities) consist of individuals from varied backgrounds and cultures. Some have even argued that we have no single "American culture." But, for many who argue that there IS an American culture, most agree that it is shaped and defined by the freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution. It is an amazing and powerful document!
The Bill of Rights is the first ten amendments of the United States Constitution. These rights inform Americans of their rights in relation to the government. The Bill of Rights provides essential protections to Americans in the legal system.
To prepare for this discussion post, conduct an Internet search and find a copy of our Bill of Rights. Read through all 10 Amendments. Then, consider this...If your job was to establish and maintain justice in the U.S., determine which 3 of the 10 Amendments would you value the most (knowing that all are important!)?
In your discussion post:
1 Copy and paste the specific wording of your three most valued Amendments related to achieving justice (be sure that this is the wording of the actual Amendment).
2 Then explain below each to explain why you selected that particular Amendment.
