Case Study: Write a specific memory from your life to support what you say in your answer to the question (250 to 400 words). The question should act as a kind of prompt for the memory. In other words, don't worry so much about answering the question as finding and writing a powerful memory.

Consider the many narrative (storytelling) techniques that we have looked at as yo u write down this memory. The main difference now is that you are writing from your own experience. You are telling a "true story"; one where you are at the centre. Think about how your memory and your feelings about that memory will influence your tone, perspective, style, etc. How will you use language and story to make the writer feel what you feel? Consider also how your current point of view may be influencing how and what you write.
These questions are frequently used in interviews so you may want to pretend you're interviewing your characters.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Questions:

  • What is your idea of perfect happiness?
  • What is your most treasured possession?
  • What or who is the greatest love of your life?
