It has been claimed that an insect known as froghopper (Philanenus spumarius) is the best jumper in animal kingdom. This insect is able to accelerate at 4,000 m/second squared over a distance of 2.0 mm as it straightens its particularly designed "jumping legs".

(a) Assume a uniform acceleration, what is velocity of insect after it has accelerated throughout this short distance, and how long did it take to reach that velocity?

 

(b) How high would an insect jump if air resistance could be ignored? Note down that actual height obtained is about 0.7 m, so air resistance is significant here.
