Your first paragraph is your introduction. This is where you will provide a brief biography of the author, their significance in US history, and the importance of the book you are reviewing. Everyone reads sources differently, so you may note patterns and common themes that others may not. Explain what you noticed at the end of your first paragraph.

If you feel like you need more go ahead but do not go overboard.
