A group of mechanical engineers like catamaran sailing on the Great Salt Lake and decide to use a glass-fiber reinforced composite with a high fiber fraction for a new boat design. The composite is 60 volume % SiO2 glass fibers and the remainder is an epoxy with a density of 1.2 g/cm3.

a) Determine the molar ratio of SiO2 to epoxy in the boat?

b) What will be the approximate density of the boat hull?

c) What is the weight fraction of epoxy in the fiber glass?
