Assignment

I had multiple students come up to me and ask about how to do homework 1. If you have the book, it should be very straight forward.. For those of you who do not have the book, you can use yahoo finance to get all the information. You have to analyze Ford Motor Company (F), Harley-Davidson (HOG), Starbucks (SBUX), and Microsoft (MSFT).

There are 7 parts to each firm that you analyze.

a. Briefly summarize the nature of each firm's business

b. Write a paragraph based on the the stock price and its performance relative to that of the market as a whole Does the firm's stock move with or against the market? Use the s&P 500 as a reference.

c. How large is the company in terms of annual sales and total assets?

d. How profitable has it been recently? Answer this by stating net income (profits) as a percent of sales. What is the trend of sales and profits over the last 3 years?

e. What is the stock selling for right now? How recent is that quote? What did the stock open at this morning? Is the price moving up or down?

g. Does the stock seem volatile to you? Think in terms of the range of price movement over the last several months as a percent of an average of the high and ow prices.

As I stated earlier in the email, you can use yahoo finance to answer all 7 questions for each of the 4 companies. This can be typed up in a word document.
