Case Study: Your paper for this class asks you to create a "mix tape" (or playlist) of four songs, with each song being somehow connected to something you have learned in this class.

Purpose:

The purpose of this assignment is to (a) give you experience with locating and interpreting scholarly peer-reviewed sources [you need a minimum of four, excluding (or in addition to) the readings assigned for this class], and (b) give you a chance to reflect over what you have learned in the class in a way that breaks from typical research paper-writing and engages you in both critical thinking and creativity.

Instructions:

In your paper, you will start with an introduction in which you describe your Mix Tape. What is the title of your mix tape? Why did you title it the way you did? How is your mix tape organized? Why should the songs be played in that order? The introduction lets the reader know what the mix tape intends to communicate or what feelings the tape intends to induce in the listener (or what it means for the person who created it).
Once you have introduced your mix tape, you will now discuss each of the four songs, in turn. Each song must somehow be connected to a course concept or theory discussed in class. They may be songs that you find to be examples of the concepts we learned; they may reflect your own reactions and emotions to the course material; or they may extend the concepts we learned into new arenas. Each song should reflect or connect to a different concept. This means, there should be four separate concepts discussed in your paper.
