KTY Corporation is the leading wholesaler of premium wines and beer in the island. John Tomo is the territorial sales manager making $125,000 per annum. John recently informed you that his sister Janet Tomo, a single mother of five (5) children, will be deployed on active military service for at least 26 weeks. Janet has asked John (her sole surviving sibling) if he can take care of her children for the duration of her deployment in Hawaii. Prior to John going on leave, you ask John to recommend or find a temporary replacement for the sales manager job. All of the prospects have declined to take the job for a 26-week period. As the HR Manager, Kindo the General Manager has asked that you research the company's options.

Problem 1: What is the test employed to determine whether KTY may hire (temporarily or permanently) a replacement for John Tomo's position.

Problem 2: In applying the test, as KTY's HR Manager what would you recommend to the General Manager with regard to John Tomo's position. Why?
