Managerial Interview Project
You will need to submit your final PowerPoint presentation in this Discussion Forum to share with your peers.
You will also need to watch the presentations of your classmates. And then post your views about others interview presentations on what you have learned, and what reflections and feedback you have. You are expected to contribute original thoughts as well as respond to at least two classmates' posts. In your responses, you will ask your classmates questions, expand on one of their ideas, ask for clarity on one of their points, and maybe even politely disagree and explain why.
Interview of a Manager Using Statistics
You will find a business manager for a local company to interview. You specifically want to understand how this manager utilizes statistics in his or her daily decision making. The purpose of this project is to understand how statistical analysis plays a role in business, and how you as a future business school graduate can use statistics to better yourself as a manager.
Step 1 Identify a local company
Step 2 Contact the company to determine if you can have access to a manager
Step 3 Have an initial phone conversation with the manager describing your intent. At this point, you can determine if a) you proceed with this contact move to Step 4 or b) this contact will not be able to provide you with enough information so you begin with Step 1.
Step 4 Schedule a time and place for the interview
Step 5 Conduct the interview. A pre-set list of interview questions has been provided. You may decide to go above and beyond these in your interview; however, your presentation should only include the standard questions.
Step 6 Prepare a presentation of your findings in a PPT slide (10-12 slides). Be sure to include your key takeaways as a manager. You'll present your findings, key takeaways, and learning outcomes.
