Assignment:
Can you help me respond to this discussion: The original discussion question was "At the end of the story (Hos 3:1-5), God commands Hosea to go back and love his wife. Hosea has to pay a price to get her back. Read John 3:16-18. Do you see any parallel? What is the significance of this OT to NT connection?" Then the student replied with this answer, "After reading John 3: 10-16 I have doubts about the purpose of God sending his only son back to his wife.
In John 3:10-15 God seems to be posing question in a way that makes me think there is some disappointment. Is that why Hosea had to pay the price? God says that he sends his only son to not condemn but to save the world. I believe that this plays in a role in Hosea being sent to make his marriage with wife to save the world from evil. God said that those who do evil, hate the light. They cannot enter into heaven. Was this his attempt to save his only sons wife from doing further evil and not entering heaven." I need to respond to the student's answer.
