A young man went to his primary care physician's office with complaints of knee pain. The patient said his knee has been stiff and hurts when he bends it while sitting or walking. On physical examination, the knee was not bruised and showed no visible inflammation. However, it did make an unusual popping sound and felt loose when the patient walked. The physician ordered an MRI scan, which demonstrated a small tear on a semilunar cartilaginous pod.
