Toro Manufacturing company makes lawn mowers for use in residential and commercial areas. Toro supplies these lawn mowers to companies such as Walmart and Kent, who in turn sells these lawn mowers to retailers. Toro signed a contract to supply 50,000 lawn mowers. Toro wants to ensure that at least 98% of the lawn mowers be free of defects. Toro managers test 210 randomly selected lawn mowers, and found 200 defective free.

  • What is the sampling distribution of the sample proportion? Assume the population proportion is 98% defective free.
  • The managers want to know what the probability is to have 200 or less defect-free lawn mowers if the supply go 50,000 lawn mowers is 98% defective free? What is this probability?
  • Find the probability that the sample proportion would be within +-2% around the population proportion. Assume the population proportion is 98% defective free.
