As we contemplate Jesus' approach to human resources, it is easy to recognize one of the first things he did after his temptation in the desert, was to create hunger and a thirst for Himself, the that is needed for His success. As noted by Maxwell (2018, p. 1221) "people buy into the leader before they buy in to the vision". Jesus created the thirst for him; He was both salt and light! Take a look at Luke 4: 14-42. Jesus let His light shine! Jesus branded himself before he began the recruitment process!
In the gospel of Luke one can see how he made himself known to the population - the towns of society. "He created credibility, or in business terminology, brand value" (blog/jesus-the-hr-manager). He made an impression; he made himself known as someone unique before looking for disciples. Light and salt, he created a thirst for Himself, as he went about healing, casting out sickness and unclean spirits. People were thirsty for what he could do for them. Take a look at Luke 4:42 and Luke 5:1-3. "He made himself known as someone special. Can you imagine the authority he spoke with? That is the same authority that commanded "let there be light" and there was (Genesis 1:3). When he asked Simon to move the boat to the deep Simon didn't ask him who he was" (blog/jesus-the-hr-manager) he just did as he was asked.
