A glass wedge is constructed to vary smoothly in thickness from zero to t = 0.200mm. The wedge is slowly inserted into one arm of a Michelson interferometer and 349 fringes are observed to pass the cross hairs of the viewing telescope as it is fully inserted. The wavelength of the light is 633nm. What is the refractive index of the wedge?
