We have a cooler filled with meats and cheeses. The inside Tin = 4.0 C. The cooler consists of 2.0 cm of Styrofoam (properties in Pitts & Sissom book). The ambient air temperature outside the chamber is Tout = 23 C, and we estimate that the heat transfer coefficient inside the chamber is hin = 13 W/m2-C, while the outer heat transfer coefficient hout = 11 W/m2- C between the wall and the air. The total exposed area of the cooler is 1.50 m2. What is the rate of heating of the cooler?

a) 2.79 W

b) 53.2 W

c) 36.8 W

d) 150 W

e) 0.153 W
