A probe is traveling in deep space at a speed of 4000 m/s. It has a total mass of 5000 kg. It fires its rocket motor to brake to 3000 m/s. The resulting thrust directly opposes the probe's forward motion. If it expends 1500 kg of fuel and the exhaust velocity is 3000 m/s, what is the probe's final velocity?
