Problem :
There are three traffic lights between your house and a friend's house. As you arrive at each light, it may be red (R), yellow (Y), or green (G).
a. List the sample space showing all possible sequences of red and green lights that could occur on a trip from your house to your friend's. (Example: RGG, which represents red at the first light and green at the other two) Assume that each element of the sample space is equally likely to occur.
b. What is the probability that on your next trip to your friend's house, you will have to stop for exactly one red light?
c. What is the probability that you will have to stop for at least one red light?
Based off the three requirements that must be met before an analysis of variance test (ANOVA) can be used: Samples must be randomly selected from the populations to be evaluated.
A random sample of five observations from the first sample resulted in a standard deviation of (12). A random sample of seven observations from the second sample gave a standard deviation of (7) at the (.01) significance level.

The standard deviation is 2.5 pounds. Find the probability that the mean of a sample of 55 families will be more than 13 pounds.

At the 0.05 level of significance, test whether the software package has reduced the average time it takes to complete deliveries.
A standard deviation of 60 seconds. Find the probability that a randomly selected boy in secondary school can run the mile in less than 322 seconds.
Suppose that bank has made a large number of loans of a certain type. The one year probability of default each loan 1.2%. The bank uses a Gaussian copula for time to default.
Suppose you study a random sample of 100 GRE verbal exams. Determine the probability that the average (mean) score in this sample will be between 485 and 515.
In analyzing two independent small samples you notice that the standard deviation for both samples are the same. How does this affect the S2p (the pooled variance)? Explain your answer.
A deck of cards contains 52 cards, 13 in each of four suits (hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades). Suppose you have been dealt five cards without replacement from a randomly shuffled deck of cards. Find the probability that al five cards are hearts..
The table on page 124 indicates XRAY was the only variable input into the equation and the model’s overall percentage correct was 75.47%. On page 125, STAGE was entered into the equation, but it looks like the model still correctly classified 75.47%...
