1. All Insulins listed in the chapter, know which are short acting, very short acting, and long acting. How is insulin mixed? Which insulin needs to be agitated in hand to mix? What are the signs of hypoglycemia? Why are beta blockers a concern when a patient is on insulin or has type 1 DM? What are signs and symptoms of DKA? What are signs and symptoms of hyperglycemia? How is DM diagnosed and monitored? Which tests are used? What is glucagon used for? Where is insulin administered? Make sure you know the key points and nursing implications in chapter 57!
