Shadows are affected by the process of diffraction. A rule of thumb is that distinctive shadows are created when the width dimension of the object is at least 10 times larger than the wavelength of the wave. What is the narrowest width of an object that will still create a distinct shadow of blue light (f=6.7 E14 Hz)? At that width, would the shadow be more distinct or less distinct when illuminated with red light (4.2 E14 Hz)? Assumne the speed of light is 3 E8 m/s in both cases.
