Go to the Data and Story Library and click in the Search by Statistical Method box, then click Chi Square Tests. Find a datafile you are interested in that contains information appropriate for a chi square test of independence (two categorical variables) and download the .TXT file and save to your computer.

The Unit 8 Discussion video will show you how to import data from a text file and how to create a pivot table in Excel to analyze your data using chi square analysis. Include the answers to the following questions for your datafile and attach your Excel spreadsheet to your post. Use the Excel chi square worksheet to calculate your test statistic and p-value (as long as you do not have more than 5 rows and 5 columns).

What is the name of your datafile? What are the two categorical variables of interest? What is your research question? The question should be in the format of "Is there an association between ___ and ___?" What is the Ho and Ha?

What is the name of the test you will run? Insert your Excel chi square output in your response using the snipping tool and Insert Image. What is your chi square test statistic? What is your p-value? Compare your p-value to alpha (assume alpha = 0.05) and state your decision.

What is your conclusion in context? Do a segmented bar chart or double bar chart with your variables using Excel, insert the image using the snipping tool, and discuss the association or lack of association that you see from your graph.
