Problem: A 12-month-old white female presents with a 36-hour history of 5 episodes of profuse watery stools without blood or mucus. She has vomited once. She has been slightly irritable but alert, active, and thirsty. Urine output has been normal. She was on her usual diet of formula and table foods. Past history is unremarkable except for an uncertain immunization history. Examination reveals normal vital signs. Tears are present. Oral mucosa is slightly dry. Skin turgor is normal. Bowel sounds are slightly hyperactive without abdominal tenderness or masses. There is no obvious blood or mucus in the brown, watery stool found in her diaper. What is the most likely etiology?
