An engineer is designing a runway for a new airport. Of the planes which will use the airport, the lowest acceleration rate will be 3 m/s2. The takeoff speed of this plane will be 65 m/s.

a) Assuming the minimum acceleration, what is the minimum allowed length for the runway?

b) The runway is constructed to 150% of the minimum allowed length. An airplane accelerates down the new runway at 3.2 m/s2 for 25.5 s until it finally lifts off. Determine the distance traveled by the airplane before takeoff, and the distance between the airplane's takeoff point and the end of the runway.
