Scenario:

Two weeks later, James wakes up with periorbital oedema (oedema around his eyes) and generalised swelling of his soft tissues. He also notices that his urine is dark reddish brown. James's mum takes him straight to the Royal Children's Hospital where Doctors perform a number of tests including urinalysis. As well as blood in his urine, there is also an elevated protein concentration. James is diagnosed with post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis, a type III hypersensitivity reaction, which causes swelling of the glomerular capillaries.

Question:

James's renal dysfunction has also led to elevated blood pressure. What is the mechanism that is causing this increase in BP? In your answer make sure you include all of the steps involved in this process
