Rain harvesting is a means of water conservation. This real-life problem requires computation and critical thinking involving a practical solution. Apply the problem solving approach studied in class to this rain harvesting and irrigation problem. Read the whole statement and be careful with units.

- Assume a house with 100 m2 of roof area. All the water runoff from the roof is collected into barrels of 55 gal capacity. The stored water is used to irrigate flower beds at the rate of 10 gal/day.

- How much water will you be able to store from 0.5 inch of rain?

- How many days will this stored volume last?

- How many barrels do you need to store this much rain?

- You can only afford to buy 2 barrels. What is the maximum irrigation flow rate you could use to make this volume last 20 days without rain? You may scan an image of your solution computation and submit it as an attachment.
