Problem: Tanya is a 20-year-old college student wanting to be in the nursing program and taking many of her required courses. This semester in her classes she has weekly assignments, along with larger projects every few weeks, and exams or quizzes. She postpones studying for the exams or quizzes until the night before, despite telling herself she will study a little each day before the exam. She then feels bad and anxious about the little amount of time she studied and often underperforms on the exams. Tanya has a month to submit an important required application to get into the nursing program, but she delays until the day before the deadline, despite promising herself she would start earlier. Tanya finds herself scrolling through social media or staying up late binge watching shows instead of studying. Sometimes she will do something useful like cleaning her room or organizing books, just to make it seem like she had a good reason to delay studying and coursework. Tanya usually feels stressed, sad, and irritable about all the work that piles up and her low grades. What is the main obstacle that would prevent the person from achieving their habit change?
