A system is contructed of a converging lens placed in front of a diverging lens. A ray diagram of this system is given on your paper homework. Draw the ray diagram and then answer the questions given concerning the system.

1. Choose the answers below that best describe the overall image produced by this lens system. Select ALL that apply.

2. Find the location of the image mathematically if the object distance is 12 cm, the focal length of the converging lens is 6 cm and the focal length of the diverging lens is -9 cm. The distance between the lenses is 21 cm. Give your answer in cm to 2 sig figs.

3. What is the linear magnification of the system? (m = ?)

4. What is the angular magnification of the system if the eye is placed at the second focal point? (mθ = ?)

If you could give me a easy to follow walk through of how you figure this out, I would greatly appreciate it! Converging and diverging lens systems give me problems.
