Bertulfo was born in Yugoslavia. After the civil war, he migrated to the Philippines because his native province has become a part of Croatia. Almost all of his relatives died during the said war. He does not want to become a Croatian citizen thus he migrated to the Philippines and has now the status of a stateless citizen. He resided in Baclayon, Bohol and married Liberata, a Filipina. They acquired a house and lot in Baclayon, Bohol; a one-hectare farm in Carmen, Bohol; and a Nissan D-Max pick-up truck and registered them all in the name of Liberata. Liberata has no known relatives. Liberata, however, predeceased Bertulfo, thus the latter acquired the properties of Liberata by way of succession. Bertulfo died a year after Liberata died. During his wake, nobody from Croatia came. e. Supposing, after Bertulfo's death, Francis, a brother of Bertulfo from Croatia came to Bohol. He was able to show authentic documents showing his relationship to Bertulfo. Can he still claim the estate of Bertulfo? Yes or no. If yes, how? If no, why? f.
