Two polarizers are aligned such that their polarization axes are perpendicular to one an other. A third polarizer is placed between these two with a polarization axis that makes an angle theta with that of the first polarizer. Unpolarized light of intensity I0 passes through this three polarizer set up. What is the intensity of the transmitted beam? For what angle theta is this intensity maximized?
