What is the importance of the mass values in an galvanic cell for electrochemistry

This is a grade 12 level course for chemistry. All the help is greatly appreciated!

For example we are doing an galvanic cell experiment where we have zinc and copper inside of an Zn(NO3)2 (aq) solution. Throughout the experiment the zinc looses mass. if goes from 10 grams to 0.24 grams. The Copper goes from 10 grams to 19.76 grams. The experiment is given 40 mins and 12 amps of power. I need to know the importance of the mass for the system? Why is the mass importnant and what does it help to identiy ?
