Firing someone is not an easy task for the manager or the HR professional, but sometimes it is necessary. You have recently been promoted to the HR Director role in your organization. Upon review of all the procedures, policies and activities you have discovered that rather than having progressive discipline conversations that lead to a process of corrective behavior or dismissal, managers have been reducing work hours, giving these employees unpleasant tasks, making them work late at the last minute without warning, or negatively modifying their jobs with the hope that the employee will quit. What are the ethical implications of doing this? What is the impact on the morale of the organization? What training would you need to do with your managers to discontinue this behavior and help them impact the positive behavior of their employees? For a HR class.
