Part -1:
With this discussion topic, I am asking you to reflect about and then share your reading process by responding to the questions below. With each question, share what you usually do when you are completing a reading assignment for a class-a reading you need to be prepared to discuss, to be quizzed over, or need to reference in a written response.
1.) Do you scan (i.e., look over) the entire reading before reading it?
2.) Do you usually skim the reading or do you read every word?
3.) Do you read the assigned reading more than once?
4.) Do you usually annotate/mark (underline, highlight, writes notes in the margins) texts and other printed readings/documents? If yes, do you usually use a pen, pencil, or highlighter? If yes, what do you usually mark? If no, have you tried annotating before?
5.) If reading online, do you usually annotate (highlight, underline, add comments) what you read with tools on your e-reader or by using using an app like Hypothes.is on your phone or computer?
6.) What is the ideal reading environment for you? What type of space do you like to be in when you are reading? Do you like to read sitting up or reclining? Do you like a quiet space or do you like a space with activity (like a coffee shop or the commons areas on campus)? Do you like to listen to music? If so, what kind? Do you listen with earbuds or do you like to have on in the room? Is there a preferred time of day that you like to read?
Part -2 : With this discussion forum, I am asking you to inform your group about an activity that you do or a hobby that you choose to do
1.) What is the activity/hobby?
2.) When did you first learn to do this activity? How were you introduced to it?
3.) How long have you been doing this activity?
4.) How did you and how do you go about getting better at this activity (e.g., participating on teams, learning from coaches, reading articles, watching videos, watching others)?
5.) List two specific moves/techniques that you remember learning how to do, moves that you could not do at first-but that you later learned to do.
6.) What moves (specific skills)-which are part of this activity-do you think you have mastered, i.e., what moves do you do automatically now without thinking (which were not automatic initially). Brainstorm a list of 5-6 specific moves.
7.)What specific moves are you now practicing?
