Popular culture can have a large impact on society as in media they usually have the power to dictate what is the ideal body or lifestyle. For many year for many people thought that the perfect body was someone who was thin and had a certain type of hair; this type of woman was shown all over television form shows and commercial and was seen as desirable and if there was any other type of body they were often comic relief or the exceptional character. Sexuality within popular culture has changed a great deal and it has most been through music; there are artist such as Lil' Kim who was one of the most sexually provocative female rappers and in turn opened the door for artists such as Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B and many more; other artist such as Beyonce and Lizzo have taken the idea of being confident in their bodies and have influence culture in that way.
Within t.v. shows and movies there was many stereotypes that existed racially such as black people only playing as thugs however with directors such as Spike Lee and John Singleton who humanized these same characters has opened the doors for directors such as Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther and Jordan Peele, the director of Get Out and Nope to arise and put forth a new narrative of what black people can be within media. It also evident in shows such as House of Dragon and the up coming The Little Mermaid in which black people have begun to have a presence within the fantasy genre in which in the past there was no presence of black people.
