A heat pump with a COP of 2.4 is used to heat a house. The house is losing heat to the outside at an average rate of 40,000 kJ/h and the temperature of the house is 3 degrees Celsius. When the heat pump is turned on. Assume that the total contents of the house are equivalent to 2000 kg of air and that the house does not have any air leaks. a) Determine the power (in kW) required to operate the heat pump if the house is to be maintained at 3 degrees celsius b) Now assume that the heat pump actually consumes 8 kW of electric power, what is the heat transfer rate (in kW) to the house? c) Develop the energy balance for the house and use it to determine how long will it take (in min) for the temperature in the house to rise to 22 C with the 8 kW heat pump? Please take your time with this, the most well explained and thorough answer will be rated highly.
