Question- What is the ?Grxn of the reaction below at 25C when [NO2-]=[H3O+]=1x10^-5 M and [HNO2] = 1M? Will the reaction be spontaneous or non-spontaneous?
HNO2(aq)+H2O(l) --> H3O+(aq) + NO2-(aq)
I got 57.05KJ/mol however this is not the answer. I used ?G = -RT ln(k). Did I use the incorrect equation?
The answer was -38.5 kJ/mol, spontaneous. What might have perhaps gone wrong?
The mass spectrum of an organic compound shows the relative abundances of M to be 60.70% and M 1 to be 15.76%. Assuming the peaks are caused by 12C and 13C isotopes, determine the number of carbon atoms in the compound.
