Situation: The nurses on a med-surg unit have a variety of patients discharged with a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine. This is the most commonly prescribed device for treating sleep apnea disorders. Researchers know that only about half of people prescribed a CPAP use it successfully. The nurses on the med-surg unit contact the nurse scientist at the hospital to find out more about what might be done to help patients succeed with their use of CPAP.
