Problem: A Cruise ship has a mass of approximately 10^8 kg and carries 3000 passengers, each whom has an average mass of 70kg. The ship has a velocity of 10 m/s. The passengers decide the ship is moving too slowly and run toward the back with a speed of 2.5 m/s toward the back of the ship. What is the speed when everyone stops at the back? Half the passengers then leap off the back with a speed of 5 m/s. What is the final velocity of the ship?
