Suppose we are back in your single days. (Which could be a while back or right now.) You are sitting in an establishment and you look over and you see the absolute best person for you (Person A). You instantly realize that you have a 0.90 (90%) chance of them saying yes when you approach them and ask them out. You know that they will bring you 10,000,000 happy points if they say yes. Your EGO will take a 100,000,000 happy point hit if they say no.

1. What is the expected number of happy points for this person?

2. Based on your answer, do you approach them?

You see another person (Person B) at the same establishment. You can tell instantly that you have a 50% chance of them saying yes if you approach them and ask them out. They will bring you 1,000 happy points if they say yes. If they say no, you will only lose 100 happy points.
