In doing so, you must provide a "socio-economic profile" of BRITISH COLUMBIA. Your profile will include the information listed below:-

1. A description of the population and cities: how large are the urban centers, what is the ethnic make-up of the population, identify aboriginal groups, where does the population live (urban v. rural split), historical settlement

2. Describe the economy of the regional what are the main industries, how much money is warned by your prov/ter on industries, employment opportunities, what industries are growing and which are suffering or experiencing a decline

3. Indicators of disparity:

a. Wages: minimum wage, wages for certain profession, average family income, The minimum wage in BC is $15.95

b. Unemployment rates: current rate, unemployment history, industries with high/low unemployment levels

c. Educational differences: overall levels (high school, post-secondary), dropout rates, post-secondary options

d. Standard of living: affordable housing, cost of food, accessible parks and other recreation facilities, doctors per person, specialists, roads highways systems, international airports, transportation hubs.

4. Causes of disparity:

a. Natural resources: which resources, what industries associated with, companies in the prov/region, GDP from various resources, employment within the resource, job opportunities

b. Location: where is your biggest outside market(s) for goods, how do goods get shipped, advantages to your location, what gets shipped your prov/terr in to your prov/terr

c. Urbanization: how many cities, population, growth

d. Transportation: what systems are available, economic use of the systems - airports, bridges, highways, rail, shipping (ports), any problems, costs

e. Technology: what tech. industries are centered in your prov/terr (headquarters), what tech are contributing to the economy, employment opportunities

f. Labor force: age, demographic, education levels, professional levels - break it down

g. Physical features: attractions which provide profit, attractions for investments, tourism, what draws people to your prov/terr, describe the land (mountains? Rivers? Climate?)

5. NOTE: This part of the project is VERY IMPORTANT. Your product will also contain the following background: a brief history of British Columbia, brief facts about BC including - capital city, premier or leader, 2 current issues (related to economy of the region - for example, the Oil Sands of Alberta are controversial)

Other Required Elements (regardless of contract choice): Bibliography FORMATTED.

Overall Analysis: Assume you are giving a presentation to a group of potential immigrants. You are educating them on the economy of your province or territory. You will conclude this presentation with an OVERALL analysis of your province. " "(name of prov or terr) should or should not (pick one) be considered as a location for you and your family because...(no less than 6 reasons)...". This should be % to 1 pade in length.

Format Options: REGARDLESS of the format you choose, you are not to simply "list" your facts. Present the information in a readable, interesting, and catchy way.
