Compute each part of given problem:
Problem: A heat engine uses resistors to boil water as part of its operation. There are 3 resistors with resistances 25ohm, 10ohm and 15ohm, connected in series. The resistors are connected to a 240 V power source.
Part I: What is the equivalent resistance of the three resistors?
Part II: How much electric power is dissipated in the resistors (all together)?
Part III: The engine turns water into steam and then heats up the steam to 250 C. How much heat do you have to add to .5 kg of water, starting at 25 C to turn it completely to steam at 250 C?
Part IV: The engine extracts 1200 kJ of heat from the steam each cycle, and does 345 kJ of work. What is the engines efficiency?
Please show all work and steps so I can fully understand all concepts! Thanks.
A sphere of radius R is uniformly charged to a total charge of Q. It is made to spin about an axis that passes through its center with an angular speed ω. Find the magnitude of the resulting magnetic field at the center of the sphere.
