Conservation Ethics and Law Assignment Questions -
1. What is 'the environment'? Is it 'nature' or 'resource'?
2. What do you think 'a place that humans live' should look like? Why do you think that way?
3. How important do you think biodiversity is, especially in the human habitat, be it urban, suburban, or rural, and why?
4. What should be the balance between spaces for nature, and spaces for humans, and whether, a line should be demarcated to set the boundary between nature and human? Why do you think so?
5. In what ways would the current international legal regime governing the environment, especially the principles and concepts of law developed under the regime of international environmental law be important in promoting the conservation of biodiversity, and of nature, at the local level?
6. Would 'nature' be considered to be "in a filthy and unwholesome state or overgrown with rank or noisome vegetation" if it is left to grow as nature wants it to grow?
Please provide sufficient explanation and justification, with reference to established literature on the subject matter to support your opinion and argument. If necessary, students are encouraged to use illustrations, diagrams, pictures and other means to support and elaborate their assertions.
