A 2,150 lb car is traveling at sea level at a constant speed. Its engine is running at 4500 rev/min and is producing 150 ft-lb of torque. It has a driveline efficiency of 90%, a driveline slippage of 2%, 15-inch radius wheels and an overall gear reduction ratio of 3 to 1. If te car’s frontal area is 19.4 ft2, what is the drag coefficient? Hint:  it is important to keep track of all known values and the handful of equations that related them. Ultimately you should be able to solve for a vlaue of Fe, V, frl, Rrl.With these solved (plus a few given values) you should be able to use another equivalency for Fe that allows you to solved for CD.

Determine what power must be supplied by the pump

The length of the pipeline in the building is 60 m, the water temperature is 20.C, and the water pressure on the top floor must be at least 150 kPa. Will a booster pump be required for the building If so, what power must be supplied by the pump

Determine the hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer

Drawdown at an observation well 15 m from the pumped well is 3.0 m, and drawdown at a second observation well 150 m away is 0.30 m. find the hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer.

Find all contact forces to the contacting surfaces

Cylinders A & B weigh 500N each and cylinder C weighs 1000N. Assuming frictionless contact between all surfaces, find all contact forces. Diameters A&B= 1, C=2. Frictionless contact means forces are normal to the contacting surfaces.

Calculate what is the volume of rock in the rock pile

A storage pile of crushed rock is 100ft by 100ft square at its base and 50 ft by 50 ft square on the top. The pile is 25 ft high. What is the volume of rock in the rock pile

Which direction to apply the force components

When drawing a FBD, how do you know which direction the x, y and z components are applied? I know that the sum of forces in each direction and the moments about each axis have to equal zero so I know some FBD are pretty self explanatory

Determine the speed with which b must walk toward a

Swimmer A immediately starts walking toward B at a speed of 2ft/s relative to the raft. Knowing that the raft weighs 300 lb, determine (a) the speed of the raft if B does not move, (b) the speed with which B must walk toward A

Determine the period of vibration and the maximum

A 30 lb uniform cylinder can roll without sliding on a 15 degree incline. A belt is attached to the rim of the cylinder, and a spring holds the cylinder at rest. If the center of the cylinder is moved 2 in

What is the pressure at the leading edge

Compute the probability of failure in the pipeline system

A water pipeline system is made up of three links in parallel. In any given year, on average, 99 in 100 pumps do not fail. The conditions in the links are statistically independent of each other.

Determine the clearance between the tube and the cylinder

a 25-mm diameter steel cylinder 300-mm long falls, because of its own weight, at a uniform rate of 0.1 m/s inside a tube of slightly larger diameter. A castor-oil film of constant thickness is between the cylinder and the tube.
