What is the difference between isomers and epimers? What is an example of each? During digestion, disaccharides like sucrose are hydrolyzed. What are the products of the reaction? How is the digestion different in the digestive system versus a beaker with the same chemical conditions of temperature, pH, etc? Are the chemical energetics in the beaker different from the bioenergetics in the gastrointestinal system?
