1. An infectious disease broke out in a village where men and women were given different medications. All infected persons had to go to the clinic to get injections once a day. Men were prescribed medication “A” which costs $400. Women were prescribed medication “B” which costs $150. The cost to administer the medication is $100 per visit. Men had to visit a total of 10 times for the medication and women only had to go for ad a total of 5 visits. What is the incremental cost for (Men) medication “A”?
Cost for Men for one day medication =$400+$100=$500
Cost for 10 days total = $500*10 =$5000
Cost for women for one day medication =$150+100 =$250
Cost for 5 days total = $250*5 =$1250
Incremental cost for men for medication A is =$5000-$1250=$3750
2. At the end of the treatment the men had a higher survival rate than the women. Overall the men had quality-adjusted live expectancy of 13 QALYs and women had 10 QALYs. Based on your response from question #1 was is the incremental cost effectiveness for men?
