Question: What is the difference between a subagent and an agent? A regular agent must put the principal's interests first but a subagent puts their own interests first and the principal's interests second. An agent represents a principal while a subagent represents a third party. A subagent and an agent are both authorized by the principal to represent them, but the subagent has been working for a shorter period of time than the agent. An agent is authorized by a principal to represent them; a subagent is authorized by an agent to represent the principal the agent represents.
