Question 1: "First what is the definition of model minority? Model minority is an indication of a minority group that have reached a level of success on the United States. Society when referring to a model minority is often used as a term to describe the Asian Americans. Asian Americans reached a high level of education and financial success more often than other minority groups (Kasinitz et al, 2011).
Question 2: The term model minority was first introduced by William Petersen. Model minority is referring to the success of Japanese Americans to overcome the discrimination that availed itself against the Japanese American and their success in the United States. The Japanese Americans value family, work ethic, and genetic superiority (Kasinitz et al, 2011).
Question 3: Taking a look at African Americans and there demographics, that 60% live in the south. It is unfortunate that the poverty level rose in African Americans to 10.7 million in 2015. Some of the reasons for this that the African Americans household was run by a single female. They worked multiple jobs trying to survive and take care of their family. Because those women were African American they did not have the same chance for employment in better jobs as other races had (Karger & Stoesz, 2022).
Question 4: When talking a look at Asian Americans compared to other minority groups. They seem, to have an advantage. They have both mother and father in the household. They have better jobs because they are educated. They can send their children to college because they can afford to. Where you have African Americans, Hispanics, and other groups that cannot afford what the Asian Americans have (Karger & Stoesz, 2022).
