Here are some of the important BADSOC criteria you should score and write at the beginning of your 5-0-0 w o r d post and then transition to your personal feelings about the article topic.

Depth: Once you identify the main subject or topic (or controlling idea) of the article, decide if you think the article succeeds in supporting the topic with comprehensive content that gives a lot of pertinent material, or if the article is too "thin" with information and needs to add more details.
Authority: Authority considers what credentials the author of your research material has to present, discuss and/or comment upon the subject of your research. There are, generally speaking, two levels of authority: Stated/Direct and Editorial (if you can't remember the differences, go back to "The BADSOC Method page and reread that part). Here is a tip- many times a student may have to research the biography of the writer by Googling their name to see what "credentials" they may or may not have. For instance: Do they have any academic degrees? Have they written multiple articles or books? Do they work for a magazine or newspaper? Or, are they just a blogger who likes to write as a hobby? Are they just a "troller" who likes to spread their opinion around different internet platforms. You need to state in your post what "authority" you believe the writer of this article has based on some simple research.
Sources: Does the article include any outside sources to support the thesis (or main point/ argument)? Again, reread the BADSOC page to see the two different types of sources there are and which type is being used in this article.
Objectivity: Objectivity measures how much of a side the author takes in a piece of writing. Objectivity is something to be aware of: if the author takes a side, or has what is called a bias, a reader needs to know it and take it into account when evaluating a piece of writing. Bias is the opposite of objectivity: if an article takes a side, or has a strong bias, then it would score very low in objectivity. Decide for yourself and then explain your decision about this articles objectivity.
Currency: If something was published recently, it has a lot of currency. If the material is older, then is it does not have currency. What is the currency of this article?
Finally: Although not the most important part of this assignment, you should still include some of your own personal thoughts on this issue and if this article has enlightened you or help to clarify this social crisis for you.
