An undergraduate college student has had an on-campus ‘presence’ for a 4 full semesters and was about to finish the fifth of an eight semester schedule which required the successful completion of 120 credits overall divided between 42 general education and 78 degree specific. At the beginning of the first semester the forecast cost at completion was projected as a TBC of $64,000 (including 2 internships). As the student was preparing to register for the next semester, the thought occurred that perhaps it would be a good time to review the project relative to budget performance as that had not been performed at all up to this point. When the student looked at the CAC to this point it was revealed that $34,000 will have been spent just prior to registration for the next semester. Looking at the courses remaining to be completed, the student realized that 55% of the total degree required courses remained. Using the information provided above, answer the following questions – 1. What is the CEV to this point? 2. What is the student’s CPI to this point? 3. What is the cost variance to this point? 4. What is the FCAC if the student does not change the CPI for the balance of the college degree project? 5. What would be the FCAC if the student performed the balance of the project at the originally planned CPI, knowing that the original deadline will now have to adjusted to be later than planned?
